Twenty years have passed since Hiroto Rakusho embarked on his exploration of metallic-leaf art. While traveling the world, he absorbed aesthetic influences and artistic techniques encountered in numerous countries while honing his talents as a traditional artisan, elevating his art as a result. With the 2023 goal of re-examining that era in his life, he has established “returning to roots” as an exhibition theme this year. The artist will exhibit new works at this event, with a central focus on his “Full Moons of the Twelve Months” series resulting from twenty years of fascination with that celestial object. Hiroto Rakusho’s metal-leaf art changes based on viewing location, time and lighting effects, as well as the personal feelings of the viewer.
